Building Stronger Families

Building Stronger Families is a program for Arabic and Tamil speaking migrant and refugee men aged over 18. It is a free program run by Arabic and Tamil-speaking facilitators.

Building Stronger Families is a 16-week group program that helps you to build family connections that are strong, respectful and caring during weekly group sessions for Arabic and Tamil-speaking men.

Group facilitators provide information, create discussion, allow for self-reflection, goal setting and learning new skills. Participants experience a positive, practical approach that builds on strengths within themselves and in their relationships. Participating in a group program is an effective way to gain the confidence to turn negative habits and cycles into positive ones, manage strong emotions constructively and create the future you want.

The program also provides case management for men and partner support for women.

This program seeks to teach men:

  • How to build family connections that are strong, respectful and caring
  • To better understand the thoughts, feelings and behaviours that impact relationships
  • About the dynamics of power and control in families and of relationships between men and women in Australia

This program is provided in partnership by Settlement Services International and Relationships Australia NSW and funded by Women NSW.
