Men’s Talk

The Australian Migrant Resource Centre (AMRC) has a Family Support Program which incorporates Men’s Talk – support young men, fathers and prospective fathers of migrant and refugee background from new and establishing communities in South Australia. The program aims to educate participants on an array of topics including health, domestic and family violence, and the importance of positive role modelling for their children and community. The program also aims to provide men with a voice to express their needs and concerns, and breakdown negative stereotypes and perceptions holding men back from seeking assistance. The program encourages meant to open up and to engage in men empowering initiatives with their community. This work is non-funded, but it is critical that the provision of early intervention is conducted through a trusted community service.

The Men’s Talk program is offered all year round at the AMRC, as part of the Community Development and Engagement program.
